Riassunto – Le stafilococcie locali e sistemiche sembrano ritornare di attualità, ed a tale fenomeno contribuiscono sicuramente le resistenze antibiotiche e gli aumentati rapporti interetnici connessi alla cosiddetta globalizzazione; è necessario pertanto, approcciando i pazienti, tenere conto anche di patologie che si ritenevano scomparse.
Descriviamo un caso di ascesso corticale stafilococcico, anticamente conosciuto come “carbonchio renale”, occorso ad un giovane adulto giunto alla nostra osservazione.
Bibliografia recente su tale argomento è riscontrabile su casi segnalati in Africa settentrionale ed in Israele; riteniamo pertanto opportuno riportare il nostro caso, trattato conservativamente mediante drenaggio ecoguidato ed antibioticoterapia mirata.

Abstract – Local and systemic staphylococci seem to have come back and antibiotic resistance undoubtedly contributes to this, as well as the increase in interethnic relations connected with so-called globalisation. It is therefore necessary when approaching patients to also take into account pathologies that were considered long gone. A case is described of a staphylococcal cortical abscess, once known as “renal carbuncle”, observed in a youth. Recent bibliography on the topic can be found on cases reported in northern Africa and in Israel. We therefore consider it advisable to report our case, treated conservatively by echo-guided drainage and well-targeted antibiotic therapy.
