Abstract The aim of the study is to evaluate the use of Triptorelin, an LH-RH analogue, to improve spermatogenesis in patients who were operated to correct varicocele. Lower than usual doses of Triptorelin were administered to prevent gonadic block: 0.025 mg subcutaneously every three days in two periods of 25 days each, separated by one weeks rest. Each patient first underwent a scrotal ETG, hormonal assays (FSH; LH; PRL; testosterone), spermiogram, search for chlamydiae and sexual history report according to I.I.E.F. Hormonal assays were checked again during the weeks rest and at the end of treatment. The spermiogram was assessed at the end of treatment and again two months later. 15 patients were included in this study. The first results from the control spermiograms seem to be satisfactory without important side effects. Key words: infertility - Triptorelin - varicocele. |
