Riassunto – Per quanto di sempre pił frequente riscontro, la cistite interstiziale resta un’affezione cronica poco frequente, di difficile diagnosi e trattamento. Nella revisione delle teorie eziopatogenetiche, dei criteri diagnostici e delle terapie, spesso ancora empiriche e col criterio dell’ex adjuvantibus, gli Autori mettono in evidenza come la CI possa esitare, negli stadi pił avanzati, in forme cliniche altamente invalidanti fino all’insufficienza renale. Il dato del pił frequente riscontro all’estero (il doppio che in Italia), infine fa presupporre come una non corretta ed esauriente ricerca possa essere alla base della sua raritą nel nostro Paese. Abstract – Although the number of findings are increasing, interstitial cystitis is still not a very frequent chronic disease, making its diagnosis and treatment difficult. In reviewing the etiopathogenetic theories, diagnostic criteria and therapies, often still empirical and based on ex adjuvantibus standards, the authors emphasise how interstitial cystitis may, in the more advanced stages, result in highly invalidating clinical forms and even renal failure.The fact that it is more frequently detected abroad (twice the number compared to Italy) suggests that examinations in our country may be incorrect and incomplete.
